History of the Club
In 1967, Charles Gates purchased 3,000 acres of land in southwest Colorado Springs that was known as Cheyenne Mountain Ranch. His vision included a community of individual home sites, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels and areas for recreation.
The Country Club of Colorado was the focal point of that vision and in 1971, Gates Land Company selected Pete Dye as the architect to design and build our golf course. In 1973, the Club opened the west (front nine) holes on August 1st and the back nine holes on September 1, and from the beginning, the community and the Club were a success. The golf course was built around a spring fed lake known as Curr Reservoir. In addition to a championship golf course, the Club's recreation programs offers tennis on 17 courts (5 indoor), exercise and fitness programs, water sports on the lake and a multitude of social and family events throughout the year on our own private beach. The Clubhouse includes Gates Grille (formerly Pineview Grille), the Pete Dye Room (formerly Family Dining Room), a Gameroom, Lakeview Banquet Room and Terrace, Golf Shop and the Golf and Fitness Locker Rooms.
Managed by DOLCE Hotels & Resorts, The Country Club of Colorado provides the ideal setting for golf, tennis, fitness and aquatics recreation. Whether you are looking to enjoy the picturesque surroundings in our outdoor dining areas or pursuing the many sporting opportunities that the club provides, there is something for everyone at The Country Club of Colorado.
